A thoughtful academic program designed around how children actually learn best — with time left over to be kids.
We started The Trailhead School because we believe children deserve more than what most school options offer today — long days, large classrooms, and a pace that leaves little room for curiosity, depth, or play.
The Trailhead School is built on a simple idea: what if school were smaller, shorter, and more intentional? What if children had strong academics in the morning, meaningful projects in the afternoon, and still had time to ride their bikes, read for fun, and just be kids?
That's what we're building — a school where every child is known, every hour is purposeful, and families get their afternoons back.
Our curriculum is built on proven methods. We combine structured, evidence-based instruction in the fundamentals with the kind of hands-on, real-world learning that makes knowledge stick.
In the early years, everything is teacher-led, multisensory, and intentionally paced. Students build deep confidence in the skills that matter most:
This stage prioritizes depth, confidence, and a love of learning.
Third grade is when students can read independently, sustain focus longer, and benefit from individualized pacing. This is the right time to introduce targeted learning tools:
Students move at their own pace while maintaining strong instructional support.
We introduce adaptive learning tools only after students have built strong academic and developmental foundations.
At The Trailhead School:
Technology supports learning — it does not replace teaching.
Afternoon projects at The Trailhead School aren't a generic maker space. We bring in real professionals, artists, and specialists to lead hands-on learning experiences — because children deserve to learn from people who are deeply skilled in what they do.
Whether it's a local engineer leading a building challenge, an artist teaching printmaking, or a naturalist guiding a creek study, our project time is designed to be meaningful, expert-led, and connected to real work.
At The Trailhead School, school runs from 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM. That's not because we're doing less — it's because we're doing it better.
Small class sizes mean less time managing behavior and transitions, and more time actually learning. Every hour has a purpose, and nothing is filler.
The result? Children get a rigorous, complete education and families reclaim their afternoons. Kids have time to play outside, pursue hobbies, spend time with family, and just be kids — the way childhood is supposed to work.

The Trailhead School is building something that grows with your child. As students advance beyond 3rd grade, we're developing pathways that blend strong teacher-led instruction with targeted adaptive learning tools — allowing students to move at their own pace while maintaining the values that define our school.
This hybrid approach avoids early over-reliance on technology while introducing efficiency and personalization at the right developmental stage.
More details coming soon as we finalize our upper elementary program.
Grounded in the science of reading — systematic, structured, and proven to work for all learners.
Traditional computation and math facts fluency paired with modern reasoning and problem-solving.
Not a generic maker space — real professionals guiding real learning experiences.
Strong academic and developmental foundations before any adaptive technology is introduced.
A complete education by early afternoon so kids can play, explore, and be kids everyday.
Smaller class sizes mean every child is known, seen, and taught at their level.
Social studies and science rooted in real experiences, not just worksheets.
We're opening soon with a small group of founding families.
We'd love to hear from you.
